MedSTEM Pathways
Paid internship program for rising high school juniors and seniors and recent graduates. Interns spend up to 12 hours per week gaining work-based learning experience in designated Rush departments or partner organizations, plus 8-12 hours in classes related to certifications and /or their career interests.
- Program Dates: June 17, 2024 – July 26, 2024
- Eligibility: Minimum 2.5 weighted GPA, 90% Attendance Record
- Opportunity to gain community service experience
- Obtain mentoring
- Gain industry-recognized credentials

Career Days for Health Professions Week!
Rush Education and Career Hub (REACH) hosted Health Professions Career Day events on November 8th & 9th at William H. Brown STEM School. REACH brought in 10 volunteers with outstanding career experience in healthcare fields to speak to students from 2nd – 8th grade about their career pathways. Thank you to our partners at Brown School, the REACH team, and our wonderful volunteers for making this event a success!

Mark Cuban Foundation News!
REACH for IT had the privilege to host the Chicago cohort of the Mark Cuban Foundation’s AI Bootcamp. Rush University Medical Center welcomed a diverse group of youths comprised of students from across Chicagoland with keen interests in technology. During the transformative four-week experience, students received essential AI instruction, engaged in hands-on activities and project-based learning.

Vitals for STEM Success is an afterschool science enrichment program for middle school students interested in healthcare careers. REACH is partnering with the Carole Robertson Center to host Vitals at two schools, Herzl School of Excellence and Lawndale Community Academy, beginning in October.

- Two 10-week sessions of 1 hour STEM exploration labs
- Build interest and awareness of careers in STEM and healthcare fields
- Collaborative games and projects to learn about human body systems and healthcare career pathways
Join us for our Closing Celebration for MedSTEM Pathways and Explorers on Friday, August 5th, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Teamster Building, 300 S. Ashland Ave.
This will be a drive-by celebration where students can stop by to pick up their certificates of completion, and winners of the capstone showcase will be given their awards.

With reports of COVID-19 cases on the rise and the new variant, the Rush Education and Career Hub has decided to move the MedSTEM Pathways and Explorers Capstone Showcase to virtual. The capstone presentations will remain on Friday, August 5th.

Since the showcase date is rapidly approaching, please ensure you are on track to complete your project and seek additional support if needed. The capstone instructors will share information regarding the agenda and timeline for the virtual showcase this week during your scheduled classes.

MedSTEM Explorers is a paid enrichment program for rising high school sophomores and juniors. During one six-week summer session, students will explore careers and research real-world issues that affect their communities.
MedSTEM Pathways is a paid internship program for rising high school juniors and seniors and recent graduates. During the one six-week summer session, students will engage in hands-on learning to strengthen communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In addition to skills development for higher education and career, students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials.

The College Career Pathways program is offering an eight-week, 32 hours per week internship program for twelve highly motivated undergraduate college students with a strong interest in nursing, radiology & diagnostic, Information Technology (IT), public/community health, and many more healthcare careers.
The summer internship is designed to give relevant and needed exposure to hands-on workforce skills, on-the-job training, and provide the opportunity to gain industry-related credentials for those students seeking careers in the health sciences. Interns will be provided compensation for a Summer experience.

The Center for Community Health Equity is offering an eight-week, 40-hour per week internship program for four highly motivated undergraduate college students currently in their junior or senior year with a strong interest in research, health disparities, and community relations.
The summer internship held at Rush University is designed to give relevant and needed exposure to students seeking careers in the health sciences and research. Summer interns will be provided compensation for the experience (up to $5,000 before taxes; partial bi-weekly payment).
